December Newsletter 2023

Teri Ann Cox
Executive Director of The Children’s Center

Dear Children’s Center Families,

“This bell is a wonderful symbol of the spirit of Christmas - as am I. Just remember, the true spirit of Christmas lies in your heart.”
Santa Claus in the movie Polar Express

The month of December is always a magical one when children are involved. With each day that passes, the excitement will build here in our classrooms, especially for those who believe in Santa Claus!

In addition to the magic, things do get busy as the holidays approach and can be stressful for all of us. Emotions run high and can trickle down to our children. As we know from the Pyramid Model, letting children see and feel emotions is very important. We also know that routines are pivotal in helping children stay in check with their emotions and daily tasks. For helpful tips, check out the one-page Backpack Connection Series posted on our Facebook page and Instagram account that explains the need for routines and how visual schedules can help (we use these consistently in our classrooms to show sequences of activities to be completed throughout the day).

How ever you celebrate the holiday season, I wish you and those you love happy, regulated emotions all around, as well as an extra measure of comfort and hope!

With kind regards,

Teri Ann

P.S. Be sure to watch for our social media posts of Bobbie Bear doing his annual reading of Polar Express with our preschoolers!
