June Newsletter 2025
Teri Ann Cox
Executive Director of The Children’s Center
Dear Center and Magic Moments Families,
First, thank you for taking the time to fill out the NH Pyramid Model Family Engagement Survey that was available for your input back in March. With your assistance 428 families completed the survey from 29 child care programs across the state. The Pyramid Model statewide leadership team, of which I am a member, is thrilled to have so many families who took the time to share their thoughts.
We have received a copy of our collective responses for our leadership team to review. We will use the information from the 30 families who participated for our own continuous quality improvements and to know the ways in which, from the families’ perspectives, we can best support our staff in their implementation and communication of Pyramid Model practices. We cannot do this work without families and always appreciate hearing from you.
Second, an important annual fundraiser for us that occurs this month is the NH Gives campaign. Hosted by the NH Center for Nonprofits, this organized online platform brings together thousands of donors to raise as much money and awareness as possible for the non-profits that give so much to their communities in New Hampshire every day. This year’s campaign occurs on June 10th and 11th and once again, the Fiske Family Foundation has pledged to match up to $5,000 in donations given to The Children’s Center. Every dollar donated will be doubled, resulting in the hope that we can raise at least $10,000 in this short 24-hour window.
Please help the Center in this fundraising effort by sharing our posts about the event on social media or the link we will provide with your friends and family via email or text. The monies raised this year will go towards Filling the Sheds! for our infant/toddler, preschool, and school age programs. We are looking to purchase a new 6-seat stroller, a new collection of balance bikes with accompanying helmets for our preschoolers, and new high-quality life vests for the kayaking adventures our All-Stars go on each summer.
And finally, for all our dads out there, all the best on Father’s Day! Always the third Sunday of June, the national day of observance was declared in 1972, but dates back to June 19, 1910, when it was first celebrated in Spokane, Washington thanks to Sonora Smart Dodd, who was raised by her father. William Jackson Smart, a Civil War veteran and a single parent of six children, inspired his daughter Sonora to create a special day that recognized the sacrifices and strength of fathers like him. So glad she did – so we in turn can honor those who influence our lives with their care, strength, and support!
Sincerely,
Teri Ann
