Dear Parents,
One of the exciting assets we have at The Children’s Center is a small bus that we get to use for field trips. You may have seen it in our parking lot or perhaps driven by Bob in the 4th of July parade. Our old bus, inherited from Huggins Hospital years ago, has served us well. However, at the end of the year, it no longer passed inspection. And I was not keen on investing more money into what had become an expensive proposition!

With the help of board member Andy Ferland and teacher Andrew Wood, we researched our options and have decided to enter into a lease to buy agreement with W.C. Cressey out of Kennebunk, ME for a brand new bus!

Our bus is currently being made and will have safe, built in car seats so that we will no longer have to use your child’s. We hope to be in possession of our new set of wheels the first of May, but in the meantime, we have a “loaner” we are using. We feel blessed to have it and are planning to put it to good use in the weeks ahead.

Our five preschool classes will be visiting Spiderweb Gardens the first two weeks of April. Fireflies and Dragonflies will be participating in our Senior Reading Buddies program at Sugar Hill Retirement Community on Wednesday mornings in April and May. And like we did in February, we will be planning several field trips for our School Age children who are with us for April vacation.

Many thanks to our Board of Directors for ensuring that we have a reliable and available mode of transportation so that we can provide opportunities outside of The Center for the children we serve.

Happy Spring,
