I know it’s just the beginning of August, but if you are like me, you may be starting to think about your child’s “back to school” transition, which could mean stepping up to a new classroom or stepping into a brand-new school.
For me, my son starts his sophomore year of high school, so this year won’t be as “big” as last. But what I know for sure is that managing my own stress about “getting back into the routine” is as important as the top recommendation from experts of setting (even my high school son’s) sleep schedule back to “school time” two weeks before the first day of school.

We have done this for years and it really does help! Another thing that we have is an “old fashion” monthly paper calendar hanging in the kitchen that shows everyone’s activities and commitments. The end of August and all of September is already filled with band camp, soccer tryouts, practices, and games, board meetings, anniversary celebrations, and various appointments. As a family, we have a clear visual of what is ahead.
