April Newsletter 2026
Teri Ann Cox
Executive Director of The Children’s Center
Dear Center Families,
Spring is finally here! We are excited to celebrate nature’s promise of fresh, new things to come. And speaking of celebrating, April 13th – April 17th is “The Week of the Young Child,” an annual celebration hosted by the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) that promotes the importance of early childhood education and spotlights young children, their families, and ECE teachers. First established in 1971, the purpose of the week is to focus public attention not only on young children’s needs but also to recognize the programs and services that meet those needs.
We will be participating in and following the five fun-filled, nationally themed days which include:
Music Monday – In addition to singing and dancing in the classrooms, we will be holding a special concert during the morning hours!
Tasty Tuesday – While our classrooms will be experiencing and eating healthy, yummy foods prepared by our kitchen team, many will also be engaging in the topic of cooking.
Work Together Wednesday – When children experience teamwork, they further develop their social skills, including communication and cooperation.
Artsy Thursday – Classrooms will be focused on open-ended art projects, with some of the artwork moving to local businesses to display publicly our kid’s creativity. Stay tuned for more information.
Family Friday – We will be hosting again this year a little ‘grab and go’ Appreciation Breakfast for our parents and guardians during the morning drop off hours. Then, weather permitting, we will end the week with a parade that will start at the Center at 10 am, and head to Cate Park and back. Check with your child’s classroom teachers if you are available and would like to participate.
In addition, look for posts on Facebook and Instagram that will show how we are bringing these themed days to life. Celebrating children and their families is at the heart of what we do. We know that the early childhood years lay the foundation for children’s success in school and later in life. Thank you for the privilege of allowing us to work with you in setting that foundation for your child -- and the next generation.
With kind regards,
Teri Ann
